Re: Today's Autumn mood in the early morning (pics)

We drove to Nicosia on Thursday morning, setting off at dawn and expecting to be driving in rain. Had a few spots as we got on the motorway at Anarita but then nothing all day.

Re: The late afternoon after the storm

I walked from Riccos Beach to the harbour and back. Had a lovely latte at the kiosk and did a total of 5 miles. On the way back I was rewarded with a magnificent sunset.

The late afternoon after the storm

Went for a walk this evening, setting off two hours before sunset. After a trip to Nicosia yesterday where we escaped all the rain and shopping in Lidl and Alpha Mega this morning, it was late afternoon that I managed to get out. P1020398.jpg What a dramatic change in the weather. Earlier in the wee...

Re: Marella Cruises sailing from Cyprus in 2019 and 20.

We loved going on the Spirit from Limassol. Our first cruise was on the Majesty, thanks to the old CL site, where a poster posted that the price of the Eastern Med cruise had come down to 250 GBP. This was on the Wednesday, but by Friday the price had dropped to 190 GBP. Never been on a cruise befor...

Marella Cruises sailing from Cyprus in 2019 and 20.

Just read this on Steve's Eastern Forum. Good news for those who have enjoyed cruising from Limassol in the past. We have been on the Dream and is very similar to the Spirit. https://cyprus-mail.com/2018/10/18/century-travel-announces-cruises-from-limassol/ Just hope that you can book with no flight...

Seems to only happen in tourist season, when there are lots of holidaymakers on the flight. We just say thank you as we get off.

Re: Anarita - enforced bar/ restaurant closures

I would think that is the reason. Joanna's opposite the cork and bottle had to close, a few years ago, as they did not have a licence for food. It then reopened but is now closed. Mikes Bar does bingo and quiz, so wonder if they have the appropriate permissions. So now we live in a village with no t...

Lovely pics Jim. That chalk is very slippery when wet. When Rach was little, she had a wail of a time trying to stand up on it and trying to get out of the water. See you soon on the bench Jim. I see they have put some new seats there for you. I was doing my daily walk in the evening in September, b...

Re: Drowning in plastic

Here in Conwy, our main dustbin is emptied once a month. We have to recycle everything and the recycling truck comes every week. We put all our recycling into a huge bag, then on recycling day, take it outside and sort it into plastic, paper and card, glass and metal. Food waste is also collected we...

Lovely photos Dominic and what a contrast to Spring. I was talking to my barber in Geroskipou about my walk around Anglesey and how I had seen a snake,(an adder). He was saying that whenever her goes out walking, he carries a long stick and sweeps the path in front of him just in case.

Re: Drowning in plastic

Program was repeated last night on BBC. Needs to be shown worldwide to highlight the problem. On my walk around the Anglesey coast, I saw lots of people carrying sacks, picking up the waste on beaches. In Pembrokeshire, each beach had a special station for you to pick up a bag, collect waste and dep...

Re: Nationwide BS increase debit card fees

We still have our Santander Zero debit card. I do not think the Zero Current Account is available at the moment but the Zero Credit Card Account is. This allows us to make purchases in Cyprus commission free at the proper exchange rate, as long as we pay in Euros. When we opened a Nationwide Current...

Re: New coffee at Lidl's: Colombian Supremo

And we plebs drink Nescafe, which, if you use the Nescafe Classic, as sold in Cyprus, makes delicious Frappe. We usually bring our coffee (except the Classic for Frappe) over from the UK, in the packets. We wait until a quality coffee such as Nescafe Gold Blend or Kenco is £2 per 100 grams and then ...

Re: One day this nightmare will be over

Would love to have a huge party and invite you all, which is what everyone on our site intended to do when we all got our deeds. Other than the two owners who went to Louise Zambartis and the two owners who had bank waivers originally, everyone else has not got their deeds. Therefore it would be tot...

One day this nightmare will be over

After 14 years since we first signed our contract, today we finally picked up our title deeds from the Land Registry. Even at the last minute, we had moments of panic. The tax certificate from our local community was 16 days out of date and we had to get a new one. At our local community office we w...

Re: Riccos Beach -bar.

On google maps it is called Riccos Beach, though it should really be Geroskipou Beach. According to google, the same beach further along is called Aphrodisiac Beach. Must go there and take the waters :D

Notice to JB, I only post useful information ;)
