Re: Treatment plant still burying solid waste

The whole issue of Waste is one of Cyprus' most lacunate errors. I was in discussion with officials on the subject as long ago as 11 years, when I wrote a 30-odd page report on the subject, to no effect.

Quite whimsical :) I'd love to see how DC would cope with modern traffic! :)

Wall-to-wall sunshine, but...

It looks like this week is going to be sunny, with moderate temperatures for the time of year. However, it looks like it will be intermittently quite breezy, even at night, Thursday excepted, so it may be a good idea to up the irrigation a notch and check on pool/pond levels.

According to my forecasts, I doubt 40°C except possibly in Nicosia with 'urban island' effect.

Just another example of why we are becoming sick and tired of the stupid rules and regulations we are expected to abide by here.
Bureaucracy was invented by the British, don't complain.

Re: Not a good example from future PM

Am neither saint nor mouse, but I don't make our spats public, nor am I a public figure. The first stone was cast by the participants, not by those who accuse Boris, and if this row became public it was because it was obviously excessive. The building looks well-constructed and if the next-door neig...

Lloyd They are all self-serving twerps. How I judge people is down to me and nothing to do with you. (Firefly dixit) Jules Stewart will, as with the others, say one thing and do another. Personally I believe that they all lie, time will tell. How I judge people is down to me and nothing to do with ...

Re: Rory Stewart gets the Hedgehog Vote

Don't agree that Rory stood head and shoulders above the rest, he was the only one not truly committed to Brexit, added to that he has obviously adopted the Corbyn dress code. He was fully committed to Brexit, as he was starting where May left off. OK, no tie, so what? You don't judge a book by its...

Re: Israeli tourist hospitalised after fall in Akamas

Legend has it that a cub reporter wrote an article about a dog killed on the road and the editor published it because there was no other news.

The Israeli guy had some bones broken, OK, but is that news? A&E treats tens of injuries every day but they don't make the news.

18 June PM debate: 5 'candidates'

What a farce! Not a single candidate showed PM potential. Boris Johnson: contributed absolutely nothing germane to the subjects. He waffled around some peripheral thoughts, such as how he helped a citizen into an Irani jail; she is now on hunger strike. He also stressed his grandad was Muslim, so th...

Re: Rory Stewart gets the Hedgehog Vote

Let me speculate. As I said, RS has been put second to BJ by the bookies (and they are usually pretty good at forecasting). Imagine BJ wins/RS second; RS has said he would not serve in a BJ government, so he will become a powerful backbencher opposed to the BJ no-deal. I can foresee fireworks in Wes...

I see the bookmakers have now put Rory Stewart in 2nd place, behind Boris, quite a leap of faith.

881 lightning strikes in last 3 hours. Wow!
Happily, none of them closer than 10 km from here but it must have been spectacular between 16:30 and 17:30, possibly in the Nicosia region.
