Re: Electricity prices to rise by more than 5% in June

Yes Trev, but don't forget that oil supplies are forward bought weeks and months in advance...and EAC will then be committed to paying those prices, irrespective of whether they actually go up or come down afterwards. Oil is usually bought in USD, so a shift in currencies can also have an effect. Sa...

Re: The UK,s future PM and your pound?

Makes me laugh, one of them (can't remember which, but I think may be Boris) is bragging that they will offer tax cuts if elected. How can they possibly, when Police numbers are cut back to the bone, local councils are laying off services to the aged and sick left, right and centre...and education a...

Re: Electricity prices to rise by more than 5% in June

Fully understand your sentiment Vicky, but oil prices have gone up in recent months and EAC's production costs are locked in to the price of oil.

Is the new power station (I didn't know there was one) going to be operated by an independent service provider then, as opposed to EAC?

Re: Flat Roof Coating

The product I mentioned previously was applied to a bitumen coating all over our roof and works perfectly. In it's early years the bitumen had developed cracks after prolongue exposure to the sun, but after cleaning thoroughly and apply the correct primer the white rubbery coating worked, and still ...

For a long time our family has used Maria. She has a small shop (which also sells wool) about 100m west of the mall, on TOKR, and on the same side of the road as the mall. 99 986244. Parking available in front of the shop.

Re: Trump's Latest Pearls of Wisdom

Who's to say? That's not how it reads. As others have pointed out, even if that were the case, why does Trump always need an 'interpreter' to subsequently explain what he really meant, as opposed to what he actually said. Here's another classic Trump: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/donald-trump-boasts-au...

Re: Flat Roof Coating

We bought a white rubbery paint specially made for this purpose from Nikonikkos, opposite Sklavenitis/Carrefour on Mesoghi Ave. Brilliant stuff, but not cheap. 4 or 5 years on it's still like new. We gave at least two coats, plus primer I think. Echo all that WHL says, you should not skimp on someth...

Yes, I believe he is....but not as much as the people that voted for him ;)

Yeah, people do sometimes demonstrate pretty poor judgement when asked to vote on contentious topics.

There is another case in point at the moment...but I can't quite recollect what it is

Re: Bank accounts and transfers to UK.

Nat West are the worst and I seriously suspect that they use the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements to offload accountholders. I've assisted many of my clents in providing KYC (which is acceptable to all other institutions) but Nat West have rejected it and in one case, denied ever having receiv...

Re: Bank accounts and transfers to UK.

Love the ease and simplicity of Transferwise. Using a Cyprus debit card I can transfer up to €1,000 per day to a UK bank account. Money is in the UK account within 20 seconds.

Re: Can things get worse?

Then it's up to us, once the facts are known, to refuse to accept it. The good thing is, the EU currently forbids the import of chlorine-washed chicken into Europe and has done so for the past 20 years. In future, the UK will have to sort out it's own wish list in terms of hygiene standards while, ...

Re: Mayor of Paphos locks horns with Unesco over new Paphos jetty

Lets look at the limassol marina, all the properties are sold, restaurants and bars full , you will have to wait, to get a seat, a family member of mine has a yacht moored there, costs him twenty grand a year in rent, comes over often and spends a bunch of money each time, good news bfor the econom...

Re: Mayor of Paphos locks horns with Unesco over new Paphos jetty

Don't you think that Paphos is getting ideas above their station - How can you compare places like Venice to what Paphos has to offer? G*d man, have you no ambition? You have start somewhere and then aim skywards. As Mark Twain once said: “Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Sm...

Re: Can things get worse?

I have long suspected, but heard it confirmed by a commentator on TV tonight, that the reason Trump wants to drive a wedge between the UK and EU is because just when the UK thought all was lost on the deals front, it will enable the USA to step in as saviour...and offer the UK a trade deal it will b...

Confirm One Stop are a good place to go. They stock plywood in all sorts of thicknesses. For ordinary ply they will cut it to the exact size you want, but with marine ply you have to buy the whole sheet. Fast, friendly service.

Re: Courier Services

I've used the Post Office and conventional courier services. The former is as good as the latter. When I sent an important document from G'pou Post Office to an address in Cornwall on a Monday, it arrived on the Wednesday afternoon. I would have no hesitation using that service again. Significantly ...
