Re: Surprise of the first hot night

From what you've said Max, if you can view Discovery 'Nat Geo Wild' on your iptv you'll love "Snakes in the City", which is shown most nights with plenty of repeats. The programmes are about Simon and partner, Siouxie, who make a living catching snakes in Durban, S. Africa. They get 3 or 4 calls a d...

You Brexiteers give the impression of passengers on a bus that's driven off the edge of a cliff and you keep saying to each other, so far so good, so far so good. Jim

Summed it up in one Jim

Re: French Election

Whilst it's detractors have been predicting the demise of the EU for as long as I can remember it is still united and in fine fettle. And the Euro is a robust currency, going up against both the USD and GBP over the last couple of days, now that concern is over with regard to the French election. Th...

Go for it then! Do you know where Sozos is? I'm guessing The Home Market will also as they seem to stock almost everything. And they have a lot of very helpful assistants who speak perfect English. Either way I'm sure you'll find.

They're literally everywhere Garry; I can think of Sozos in Paphos and almost certainly the Home Market. I would almost like to talk you out of the water feature. They sound nice in theory, but are very impractical. We used to have two of them in our garden, but after the novelty wore off after a fe...

indeed Mark...God knows what we breathe in when the wind comes from Syria. It's all relative. I would much rather ingest air which occasionally blows in from Syria (the prevailing winds however are westerly or south-westerly), than polluted air from a traffic-congested city like London or an indust...

"Macron is pro-EU and I have read that he is not disposed to give the UK an easy ride in the Brexit negotiations." Quelle surprise from the fountain of all knowledge. No change there then  Anyone who reads or watches the news will be in possession of the same knowledge...and the sentiments I e...

Sienna never fails to disappoint. A well-run restaurant where the owners are hands-on and set extremely high standards. Love their curries in particular.

Re: Cost of Brexit: The impact on business and the economy so far

Why the threats of punishment, divorce settlements, €50bn, etc.? The UK has elected to leave the club of which it is a member and to whom it has agreed certain financial commitments. It goes without saying the UK must honour those commitments. Turning now the the strength of Sterling. The thread in...

Re: Our underused reservoirs CWeekly

Al, don't think I ever saw lifeguards posted around reservoirs in America, so why would you need them here? It's swimmers who (may) need lifeguards, not the boating fraternity. Aside from which, I never get the impression Health and Safety figures very highly on the government agenda here in Cyprus.

Re: French Election

Macron is pro-EU and I have read that he is not disposed to give the UK an easy ride in the Brexit negotiations. All or most of the other parties will be behind Macron in the second round. So Marine will lose, as was always anticipated. Smudger can rest easy in the knowledge that it won't be Goodbye...

Re: Our underused reservoirs CWeekly

Reservoirs are used for recreational boating in other countries, so why not Cyprus? America has some amazing sailing, motor-boating, houseboating and jet-ski facilities on reservoirs...and I've been on some in Arizona. As someone who owned a jet-ski for a number of years I can say that the choppy wa...

Re: Cost of Brexit: The impact on business and the economy so far

More rhetoric - why not just answer the point I made...? I did. Despite the EU's almost obligatory expression of disappointment on the day Article 50 was declared, I don't think the EU will particularly miss the UK, or be sorry to see it go. The UK has never been as spiritually committed as ...

I am a convinced reincarnationist, so your remark made complete sense to me. ...and you're starting to sound like Martin (Cymart) of CL 8-) In that case we have discussed existensionalism before. No. You have to be 18 before being allowed to go on operations.

Thanks for the clarification Royal. Given your background knowledge and location (Polis) I guess you're the political wing of Hudswell? ;)

Re: Cost of Brexit: The impact on business and the economy so far

I was under the impression that the UK economy was now booming, more so than that of the EU. Perhaps HIC would elucidate. You need to keep up Varky. Have you not been reading the papers over the last week? Not that the mainstream (pro-Brexit) media would have reported the change for the worse in th...

Re: Should 16yr olds have the vote?

Just yesterday wife and I were looking at photos of us taken 50 years ago and I observed that in almost every aspect we are completely different people to what we were then, though I guess our spirits/souls - the essence of who we are - are just the same. We then looked at pics of where we were 15 y...

Article commissioned by a holiday property rental company so what else would/could it say?!!

Don't shoot the messenger; they didn't write the article, a worldwide expat community did; 14,000 respondents in 195 countries. Seems a pretty fair sample to me. Costa Rica came first.
