Heads up - Christmas Panto "Sleeping Beauty"

Two years ago we took our grandkids to see "Treasure Island" by ACT (Anglo Cypriot Theatre) at the Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia. Easy to find, with plenty of free parking nearby. We made a day out of it. We went on a Saturday, treated the kids to clothes shopping in the morning, had a meal in ...

Re: Transferwise being slow

There are other challenger banks in addition to Revolut; for example Monzo and Starling.

There are online comparison tables like this: https://www.finder.com/uk/revolut-vs-starling and https://www.wired.co.uk/article/monzo-v ... enger-bank

Does BOC or Hellenic make a charge for the incoming payment from Currency Fair? I note that in their price list Alpha Bank charges €2 per transaction if the amount is €2000 +

FWIW, Hellenic don't on incoming paymrents from T/wise, whatever the amount.

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

So the architects responsible for the building collapses in Pissouri are blameless. We are all human & make mistakes but hopefully learn from them Building mistakes can and do happen everywhere Norv: what about all the properties which have been built on flood plains in the UK? Aside from that, the...

Re: Where to buy real saffron?

Thank you to everyone, and in partticular to Photolady and Austin7. Video was most informative and revealing.

I had assumed saffron was just a food colourant, but it seems it has many properties: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingre ... 44/saffron

Re: Best Christmas TV Advert 2019

M & S have gone through so many 'fresh start' relaunches over the past decade, and so many new designers, I've lost count. In an article I read about the company last week they described it as have a civil service mentality, so I guess real change will be a long time coming. Nowadays of course they'...

Re: Where to buy real saffron?

Thanks both. Yes Aargent I am aware of the reasons for the scarcity and price of real saffron...but I found your observations really interesting. I was told that what we bought was real, and because it came from a herb shop up in the mountains I was inclined to believe what I was told, but who knows...

Re: Best Christmas TV Advert 2019

If you read the article I posted at 11.53 last night, you will see that this advert is part of M & S's plan to get away from it's frumpy image. I think this ad achieves that objective.

Where to buy real saffron?

Many moons ago we were wandering through a village in the Troodos mountains (think it was Omodos) and we came across a herb shop selling what we were told was real saffron, as opposed to pseudo Saffron. We bought some as a gift for a friend in America and she was over the moon to receive it, as the ...

Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act

I pass Hellenic banks almost every day. G'pou is on my way into Paphos. I would never pay extra for petrol as that would be self-defeating ;)

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

Also how will these high rise buildings stand up to a severe earthquake? Dee Do you suppose for one moment that the commisioning architects haven't thought that one through? Have you ever queried the vulnerability of monumental skyscrapers in Los Angeles and the western seaboard USA, which is direc...

Dee, can only think you haven't seen any of the new high-rise buildings in Limassol; they are anything but ugly.

Though not a TV advert, this is one of my favourite Christmas songs. And with 28 million hits, my view is shared with others.

Look away now mouse, you really won't like it ;)
