Re: help please info on communal pool closure

The threat of closure and prosecution for failure to comply with a written warning is real. Why some communal pools should be targeted by a municipality while most escape under the radar is unclear. For one major communal pool we supplied a pool safety fence which will be used in the winter months w...

Good video JimGWard. There are many expats who will be impacted in ways they didn't foresee, like the couple two thirds of the way through the video, where the wife has cancer.

Re: Bird Table

Just a suggestion, you could try Makarounas Pet Shop, right next door to the Dimco showroom, which in turn is just a couple of hundred metres up from the Makarios statue. Makarounas are major pet supplies importers...and if anyone would have them I would have thought they might.

Re: Looking for an old fashioned watchmaker

There is an American living in Anarita who worked for Rolex for many years, before setting up his own watch repairing business in Cyprus. He specialises in Rolex. Nice guy. Here's his website: http://www.thewatchmaker.com.cy/cyprus- ... rofile.php

Re: Cyprus accused of blocking new EU sanctions against Russia amid Turkey spat

It’s obvious that the Cypriot Govt doesn’t want to upset the Russians who have many irons in the fire here. Dee Dee, you may care to remember that it was the Russians who bailed Cyprus out with a loan of €4 billion when the country's economy was on it's knees. As they say, "you don't bite the hand ...

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the list either. One of the testimonials for an eye clininc in Nicosia read as though it was written by his best mate. I'll be sticking with Dr Theo.

Re: You couldn't make it up.

In the recent past many of us on here pointed out that Theresa May stipulating a €30k a year minimum salary for eligible EU immigrants was absolute nonsense, as it would wipe out all those who come to work in the UK's agriculture, social care and nursing, and hospitality sectors. The very people who...

Re: Cataract surgery

Go with the best on the island, Theodoros Potamitus at Pantheo Eye Clinic, Limassol. Funnily enough, it was Dr Theo who first diagnosed my eye cancer. Subsequent early plaque brachytherapy at Moorfields was 100% successful (Dr. Theo recommended both the hospital and the consultant surgeon), but I w...

Cataract surgery

I am looking to have a cataract removed and although I have a good relationship and experience with the Pantheo Eye Centre in Limassol, I would be pleased to receive recommendations/advice. Though I would never buy medical treatment on the basis of price I would also be interested to learn ball-park...

Re: Exchanging Driving Licence

If you reside here permanently I cannot think of a reason NOT to have a Cyprus driving licence. I have used mine to hire cars in both the USA and UK without any problems. You should of course keep a photocopy of your old UK driving licence on file, just in case you return to live in the UK and wish ...

Re: Air Fryer conundrum

A year ago I nearly bought a Lidl air fryer, but couldn't quite bring myself to do so as I didn't know how it compared with the Actifry. Given that Lidl only sell this item periodically, it does make you wonder about parts availability in years to come. Hi Martin (MacManiac). Don't be put of by the ...

Re: You couldn't make it up.

Love you too Jackie ;) To repeat: having lived in Cyprus for 11 years at the time of the referendum, I was no more minded to vote in the referendum than I would in a UK General Election. I have views on Brexit, UK politics and American politics, but as I have pointed out until I am blue in the face,...

Re: Title deeds description?

But you have to wonder why the property owner/s have not got them in their possession.. For the very simple reason that many folks do not have the €5k to €10k (or more) which may be required to wrest the Deeds from their developer, particularly as many developers demand all kinds of trumped-up expe...

Re: Cyprus Drinking Water

Don't think I've yet come across a bottled water which doesn't say what the source was. Most are from natural springs. Arguments can, and are, made in both directions, but we're happy with bottled water. We buy ours in 25l containers, which are then pumped though our fridge, which has it's own filtr...
