Re: Cyta - so easy
Princebytor. How strange. Like others who have posted, I checked my credit this morning and when it would run out It has been extended for the full 12 months Trev,I I think it was because I paid for a 6 mth term in Oct 23 due to expire in April 24, so I can't complain at only getting a 6 mth extens...

Re: Driving in Jordan
It's a brilliant place to visit but I am not sure I would fancy driving there. Good call to organise a driver, they'll take you all the best spots without any hassle. Don't forget the entry visa, last time we went it cost approx 50 euros payable at the airport.

Re: Paphos Smart Parking
Not sure if it helps but we use the Sodap Beach car park which no longer takes coins. We haven't mastered the app yet but we used the texting process on our Cyprus PAYG and it is now helping to bring down our ridiculously high account balance which has built over the years due to the 10 euro charge ...

Re: Cypriots have increasingly unfavourable view towards migrants, report finds
With respect it's not quite the same thing. Most of us expats, yes even us Irish, made a conscious decision to move here. Understanding that nothing is for nothing, we took care to house, feed and clothe ourselves. We are funded by our pensions, our savings, our families and that old-fashioned nons...

Re: Cypriots have increasingly unfavourable view towards migrants, report finds
It always seems bizarre to me for Brits with a Cypriot post code calling out immigrants, just because you call yourself an 'ex-pat' doesn't mean you're not an immigrant.

Re: Did I Overstay the 90 in 180 Days Rule?
As I read it you have to be absent from Cyprus for 90 days before the next period can start.Do you agree? I thought that it was a rolling 180 days, i.e. you count back from the day of your departure 180 days and you need to ensure that you have not been in Cyprus for more than 90 days in that time.

Re: Passport officers to strike for 5 weeks
It's the office that issues the passports not the Border Police that are going on strike this time........................bit difficult to get in and out of the country without a valid passport.

Re: You do NOT need to change a Yellow Slip for an MUKW ID card
Talking about residency, we learnt something recently that may save somebody time and money. We are currently applying for a cat F residency permit and thought that we had all the requisite documents including the required evidence of a clean UK criminal record. Unfortunately, although we had a DBS ...

Re: Grace period for Airbnb new regulation's implementation to be extended again
VRBO have changed their rules so that you have to quote the registration number to list your property, although that might all change if the government bottle it and extend again. Hopefully the Ministry of Tourism will extend the expiry dates of all those individuals who have done the right thing an...

Re: Harry & Meghan
I think that William is inherently far more intelligent than his brother. He appears to have more grit and determination and went to university. He also became a competent pilot, until required for a senior role in the RF. Where he scored was by taking his time to decide who to marry. An intelligen...

Re: More Requirements for Temporary Residence
I've just read something that I didn't know. Apparently EU citizens can stay in the UK for up to 6 months at a time! https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor Tbf we can stay in Cyprus for 6 mths per year, the problem we have is the 90 day rule means that we can't organise our time in Cyprus as we would ...

Re: Revamp planned for Paphos airport
Plenty of free standing for the aircraft, last time we left we were 'bussed' out to the area in front of the old terminal, where there is loads of room. Agree though that the terminal will need extending if passenger traffic keeps increasing. Main requirement for me would be lights/roundabout where ...

Re: Tourist association: 'short-term rental properties must be properly regulated'
Tbf the temperature as regards holiday lets in Cyprus is being raised by the Hotel Association who see them as unfair competition. We spend circa 10,000 euros a year in property related costs, plus at least 5000/6000 in personal expense when we are over here. Our renters must be spending a few bob ...

Re: Tourist association: 'short-term rental properties must be properly regulated'
All I can say is that we completed a form issued by the ministry of tourism and received the appropriate certificate. At no point were we asked to provide a MEU1/MUKW1 number. I can't see how the villas being rented out as holiday lets can have their owners living here more than 6 mths of the year ...

Re: Tourist association: 'short-term rental properties must be properly regulated'
I would guess most of the villas let here are by non Cypriot residency holders, only need to be registered for tax per the form we completed Not according to these property guides https://www.propertyguides.com/cyprus/news/rules-renting-property-cyprus/ https://www.justlanded.com/english/Cyprus/Cyp...

Re: Tourist association: 'short-term rental properties must be properly regulated'
I was under the impression that as a third country national not resident in Cyprus its illegal to do short term let’s? Either way regardless of location it’s the owner’s responsibility to ensure that they comply with the regulations. I would guess most of the villas let here are by non Cypriot resi...
