It looks like summer 2024 arrives early

Since a couple of days the nighttime temperature at my place in the Paphos hinterland (450 m sea level) was not below 18c and looking up the forecast of a German weather website, it looks like that summer 2024 is on the way early....

Re: cyprusmax47

I am OK, just needed a break after I was not amused of answers I was getting in a short period of time from some of my posts. As for instance: I will not discuss on a forum my connections I have with the Mayor of Paphos and his Deputy, specially when there are elections pending. However I will not s...

Mayor of Paphos gives answers about everything...

Reading this article on PaphosPress this morning, I thought it is also interesting for people living in the Paphos district. It is not very often that an Interview of a Cypriot politician is published in such good quality, specially the translation and nice photos as well. It starts like that: The M...

Official announcement by Deputy Mayor... PaphosPress

As there are elections this summer for the position of the Paphos Mayor as well as his Deputy, there was an official announcement yesterday in the press by Mr. Christos Makariou. It is ever so hard to run successful his steady growing company, Green Air Paphos, and at the same moment not only to rep...

Re: A drive across the Akamas.

Thank you for the nice video, Dominic. Reminds me of the many rides I did 30,40 years ago, when I lived in that area and hat a lot of picnics at the endpoint of your journey with tourists I showed around this unspoiled wonderful area.

Re: Akamas Road Update

Your last few comments are exactly how I feel about the situation at Akamas. "Why bother with renovating the Akamas roads at all? Who will benefit? People not interested won't suddenly have a change of heart. But people who like it how is at the moment might be put off visiting in future. There...

Re: Tsada/Olympus Village

If you use 'Google Earth' wherever you put the pointer it shows you the height above sea level I prefer to trust the Gov. portal DLS where one can see all the levels in one picture....in this case the whole Olympou Road until the dead end. (500 m - 560 m) https://up.picr.de/47145244ed.jpg Max

Re: Tsada/Olympus Village

First, Olympos village is not that high, it varies between 480 m and 520 m sea level. Second, there is a valley between the village and the new highway, so I have doubts you will ever hear traffic from there, more likely from the B7, when heavy lorries climb up the Tsada hill... I had a customer the...

Dormant season over... pics

It looks like that also animals realize that the winter is over and spring had arrived. Yesterday lunchtime I watched this Praying Mantis hanging far away from garden plants on the house wall near the toilet window. I decided to move her with the help of an brush to shrubs in the garden. However bef...

I forgot to mention that I was using digital zoom between 600-12oo mm, the area where the rainbow ended was 10 km away near Choletria.

Excitement at Troodos peak?

I really wonder what the excitement for so many people is on a Sunday afternoon to walk in that snow slush...  There are more people then in the past week, when it was fresh snow and sunny. On the other hand it is perhaps only me as I don't like snow and cold foggy conditions :) https:/...

Again, just for a few seconds.... pics

Recently I posted a sunrise which lasted only a very short time. Today the weather was quite sunny with black clouds towards the mountains and in the late afternoon it was suspicious-looking for a rainbow appearing... and it did. However really only for 30 seconds, before a huge cloud covered it up ...

Re: Last night's Tornado Yermasoyia area, impressive pic...

It looks like it was pretty bad there - If we had a bad storm in Paphos I slept through it... Well, I woke up from rumbling thunder very close and noisy at my place above Paphos just 1/2 hour before the Tornado happened in Limassol and unplugged electricity to computer and PV- inverter in my office...

Last night's Tornado Yermasoyia area, impressive pic...

This photo published in the press shows last nights Tornado, which struck very close to the skyscraper in Yermasoyia/Limassol area, leading to a lot of damage to EAC's electricity network there. I wonder how much the people living at higher apartments felt the storm in that building..... http...
