Re: Amazon delivery

Recent deliveries from Amazon.de have been good but sometimes what you order from Germany comes from China or UK, that is when you get a problem. I make sure that anything I order is from a eu country now. I had a problem with one order ass one of the items was in another Amazon depot and they don't...

Idle mag 250 box

We used to pay for a subscription T V but rarely watched it, we also have a Clear Stream system. We now have a redundant box. Is there some way that we can use it for a Freeview backup.

I used to think . . .

Do you remember the “ I used to think ...........until I discovered Smirnoff “ adverts ? Here are some that they didn’t use. I used to think that Hertz Van Rental was a Dutch Footballer until I discovered Smirnoff I used to think Muffin the Mule was a sexual offense until I discovered Smirnoff I use...

Re: Fight to the death

Hi Mike, been a long time, . Hope you are well we are both as well as can be expected.

Thanks for the info my knowledge of dangerous looking large flying insects is zilch.

This is more or less what was going on. DON'T open if you are squeamish.

Re: Fight to the death

I have done a bit of reading. Apparently what happens is the hornet paralyses the spider flips it over and drags it to a burrow, lays an egg then seals it up. The egg hatches and the young hornet eats the spider as it grows leaving the vital organs till last, to keep it as fresh as possible. Lovely....

Fight to the death [ video added ]

We have just witnessed the most amazing sight. I don't know who started it but a fight between a hornet and a tarantula was taking place about a yard from us. The hornet won. After the kill it kept going away and coming back, it then dragged the dead tarantula behind a pot and hid it. I presume it w...

The trouble once the bag splits it is almost impossible to get a replacement, still if you buy a cheapo it's not much dearer to just replace the machine.

Re: Question on car tax

I once had to tax my car at the Ministry of Transport and they would not do it, I visited 3 times and they insisted I had to be a resident of Cyprus to own a car in Cyprus, I had to pay the Cypriot guy on the corner opposite Papantonio in Paphos, he had no problem. He has a problem now - they have ...

Re: Also ideal for Cyprus? Artificial rain like in Dubai.... video

Surely you are also removing rainfall that was going to another country perhaps to grow crops. If the air does not pass over a large expanse of water it will not pick up any more moisture so you could be creating famine in other lands

Read an article by Alex Macheras a couple of days ago in which he said that airlines in the UK are running at a MUCH lower rate than any other country in Europe because of the lack of clarity, requirements to isolate and confusing chopping and changing of rules. A 21 year old with no qualifications...

On reading the full blurb it appears that a person would have to be getting a benefit from one or other department of the Ministry of Labour. They might be the best people to contact for a decision.

Windows 11

Have just had an email from MS telling me that Windows 11 is coming. I thought that Win 10 was going to be the last one, with updates. Best practice in the past seems to have been to skip every second OS from MS would that be the advice from the Tech people out there ?

Mine too! Isn't a chocolate teapot.... Its always excepted by the post office and almost anywhere else, used purely for its ID info. It saves carrying my passport on these occasions. I also carry a copy of my MEU3. Dee Your expired ID card has a number on it, try putting that on an official form, o...

Re: Time for another trip to immigration for expat Brits

We shall not be purchasing this card. At €30.00 it is a rip off and last only 10 years. Our MEU-3 lasts forever. We have photo copies that we carry in the wallet/purse. I don’t believe it expires, the card expires just like a passport or driving licence. Our Cypriot ID’s expire every 10 years and w...
