Re: Cockroaches and the Council
No one here lives in Pathos either. :D :D :D :D The few that live in Paphos will be sad to tell you that the CO-OP chemical stores affiliated to the banks closed long since. Try one of the other DIY shops, unfortunately more expensive. I would love to see our village secretary's face is I asked her ...

Re: What time do farmers go to bed?
I know they start early in the mornings to avoid the heat, but I just went to say goodnight to the bunny and could distinctly hear the sound of farm machinery going in the distance. It sounded like a combine at work, to be honest. I can't imagine them actually doing that in the pitch black at 10:45...

Re: Photovoltaics are the way to go.. Article CMail 30.8.17
Because it might still generate a profit if you buy at the right price? Where I´m from (Bavaria) there is even less wind and windmills are still profitable at the level of the individual investor (not sure about the macroeconomic level). I´m simply interested whether the same can be said for Cyprus...

Re: Private hospitals in Paphos
I can't accept the general is not kept scrupulously lean. Routine operations sometimes have unexpected complications and I cannot fault the general in respect of doctors tests and medication. While I don't want to go into it, I am on weekend leave from surgical ward, back first thing in the morning ...

Re: Broadband in the villages
Several villages have free internet. This used to be up to 4 meg, however I think most have reduced the speed to 0.75meg - which is slow. So you have a choice CYTA or Primetel for fixed line internet, if there are phone lines where you live. The alternative is wireless and there are number of suppli...

Re: Cyprus Mail Proof Readers need shooting!
I do like to read the CM content, but the site has become increasingly slow to load and clunky. I believe this is partly due to them loading far too dense pictures. There is no justifiable reason why CM should take 5 times longer to load than a UK national.

Re: Amazon Prime
Yes it works with "Unlocator" for sure. You need to sign up and change the DNS numbers on your router then Prime works on all devices. I used to use it, but have become "turned to the dark side" of Kodi applications. I have no excuse for this illegal behaviour and members should ...

Re: Clampdown on errant moped drivers
It won't happen - too many second cousins in the force. The next thing you will be expecting is the old cars and double cabs in the villages to be insured and taxed. Nicosia is Nicosia and Paphos is the lawless west. You can't change attitudes in a single generation - not this close to an election a...

Re: Cyprus Will
As I read it therefore, when the UK comes out of the EU, they will only have the option of Cypriot Succession law as the new law relates to EU countries, Perhaps someone can confirm otherwise but I can't see how to get around it. Jeanne Could be yet another unintended consequence of Brexit :( This ...

Re: Phone and Internet Connection
One thing is for certain, Don't go wireless internet Go wired ! While there are some very populated areas where there are far too many WISP providers on the available wireless band and this causes problems, in the villages the wisp service can be better than wired if the customer is not close to an...

Have to say, I quite like the default "Mail" app in Windows 10, you could also go with Mozilla Thunderbird https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Mozilla Thunderbird is the thing to go for, either IMAP or POP3. Free reliable, secure and compatible will all versions of Windows. You can...

........................ after all, what else is there? not a lot. I am afraid that is rather sad  Life is what you make it and I only wish there were 48 hours every day to get out and do all the things I would like to. Cyprus is so full of new things to do and see, no matter how long I live, ...

Re: The Beginning of the End?
Allesley Jim as you can buy MAG250 boxes (clean) from Amazon, how to you know your subscription supplier is any more legal than kodi streams. I think the point was being made that just by paying does not guarantee legality. In the case of BBC and ITV services it is definitely not legal because of co...

Re: The Beginning of the End?
Interesting article, it states quite clearly that Amazon is not selling pre-loaded boxes. So as I wanted a clean box to install Kodi Krypton on, I very recently ordered a clean box from Amazon. Guess what it came fully loaded with all sorts of stuff I did not want, an older version of Kodi and repos...

Why not run it on a virtual machine, or is internet access required by the application? I could run a separate machine for the internet and run backwards and forwards all day with flash drives containing .jpeg and.dst files. I could even partition my PC with 2 operating systems, but honestly too co...

Re: Cybersecurity professionals warn worse impact may yet be felt
The key point is this: If your PC is still running XP, now is the time to upgrade. Dominic that is easy to say unless your have expensive industrial equipment that won't work on Win7 +. It would cost far too many thousands to upgrade the specialised software and then the industrial machine. I guess...
