Re: Cyprus Covid cats can receive unused human vaccines

Without testing - which they appear to have done - you cannot assume that any human medicine will do no harm to animals. Otherwise we would end up giving them paracetemol, with disasterous results. Not sure about cats but I met someone yesterday with a 15 year old dog who was suffering quite badly ...

Re: Cyprus Covid cats can receive unused human vaccines

Surely to goodness they must have some reasonable assumption that this would be beneficial to cats. I would assume that the Government Vets have been in contact with the phamaceutical firms that make these vaccines?

Re: British husband to face murder charges after all

I agree with Dee. A friend of ours knew this lovely couple in Cyprus and said they were devoted. Additionally the daughter lives near me in Northumberland. His family completely support him which I am sure they would not had they felt there was anything odd. It is very easy to say what you would or ...

Re: Lost MPs

They maybe have not been at PMQs but certainly I have seen Priti Patel and Matt Hancock various times at several debates. PMQs is only 1 hr normally out of a busy week with lots of debates and select committee sittings. In my opinion many of the MPs on both sides of the House work very hard indeed. ...

Re: Perfect weather today producing electricity ....

The price of electricity per kwh that I pay here in the UK is 32.24 pence plus an additional 26.45 pence per day standing charge - these prices are inclusive of VAT which is set at 5% on fuel. My gas is charged at 9.59 pence and standing charge of 26.10pence per day again inclusive of VAT. As you ca...

Re: Perfect weather today producing electricity ....

Again I think the difference in the Uk is that we generally have carpeted floors and are well insulated and often much smaller rooms than in Cyprus so very easy to feel cosy at 19 degrees. Our little 2 bed bungalow is a third of the size of the Villa we had in Cyprus- lots of insulation and double g...

Re: Perfect weather today producing electricity ....

I have to disagree Cyprus Max. We did have our thermostat set to 20 degrees but this winter whilst trying to economise we initially set to 19.5 and then to 19. I most definitely could not sleep in 20 degrees at night - would be far too hot!! I can assure you that is comfortable albeit we wear a long...

Re: Perfect weather today producing electricity ....

Anarita John I really don't know how your daughter and her friends are using that much energy. We live in the North East in a 2 bed well insulated bungalow. We are pensioners, don't go out much and use our cooker every day. We have gas central heating and an electric cooker. We keep our thermostat a...

Re: Important: Receiving medicinal products from the UK in Cyprus?

I find it hard to believe that some medicine is not available in Cyprus. From my experience there has always been a medicine available to deal with any medical condition. It may not always be exactly the same but I am sure it will provide the same benefit. When we moved back to the UK , one of my hu...

Re: Old Topics Revisited: UK Government scraps pension triple lock for 2022/23

I too am glad that pensioners will receive a 10.1% increase. But it puzzles me why there are two grades of pensioners. The newer ones (after 2016) get more than the older ones, it people who were pensioners before 2016 But at least we got our pensions at 60 and 65 respectively Trev so many women ha...

Re: Old Topics Revisited: UK Government scraps pension triple lock for 2022/23

Monday, Hunt says it won’t be retained. Today, Cleverley said it wouldn’t be an inflation figure. Truss reacts under pressure and agrees to triple-lock. Hunt looks raging beside her. Hunt did not say it won't be retained. He said wait until October 31st. I cannot comment on Janes Cleverley as I did...

Photolady I must take issue with your empty shelves remark. There are no empty shelves in our supermarkets here in the North East and I can personally obtain all the goods I require. I regularly visit Morrisons , Aldo, Lidl, M&S and Herons and perceive no problems at all other than price increas...

Re: Jab 5??

Jeba as I said above , however this is in the UK, the vaccine I have just received is called Spikevax bivalent Original/Omicron. It is intended as a booster for anyone over the age of 18. It contains 2 different types of messenger ribonucleic acid ( MRNA),elasomeran and imelasomeran. Elasomeran enco...

Re: Jab 5??

I have had my jab today in the UK - apparently from all the information they gave me it is Moderna but called Spikevax and is apparently for both the original covid strain and the Omicron variant. The surgery was giving flu jabs at the same time - Covid in 1 arm and flu in the other but I chickened ...

Re: Heat Pump v Aircon

I am not technical at all but cyprus max is of course. All I would say is that when we lived there the Landlord actually put central heating in for us BUT without insulation the heat goes straight out of the walls!! I have seen insulation added to existing homes which might be the best option to spe...

Re: Shamima Begum: arch villain or unwitting patsy?

There you go agaim Jim talking about Prince Andrew - Yes he paid off his accuser but I must point out that they were ALLEGED offences and nothing proven. The chap arrested for shouting out at Prince Andrew was actually tackled to the ground by the spectators and the Police had to intervene. For good...

Re: New Member saying Hi!

Hi I do hope that you find somewhere suitable for your needs however I must point out that be careful living too far out with your wifes health issues and know that medical care in Cyprus is not the same as in the UK. I am not saying it is not good because generally it is but there is little afterca...
