Shoe Repairer in Paphos

I don't suppose any of you know a reliable heel bar?

Not the one at the Mall.

Re: GESY Dermatologist

I saw Dr Sarika. My appointment was for 1.30pm and I was seen at precisely 1.30! There was no-one else waiting when I was there. Her waiting list is currently approx. 1 month. I haven't had my treatment yet but she was delightful, put me at ease straightaway and explained very carefully what would h...

Re: GESY Dermatologist

Hello! I saw a Gesy Dermatologist yesterday. You will need a referral form from your GP for GESY, mine gave me a form and a list of dermatologists in the scheme to contact myself. I was seen within the month, and an appointment made for the treatment in one month's time.

Re: Cypriots have increasingly unfavourable view towards migrants, report finds

With respect it's not quite the same thing. Most of us expats, yes even us Irish, made a conscious decision to move here. Understanding that nothing is for nothing, we took care to house, feed and clothe ourselves. We are funded by our pensions, our savings, our families and that old-fashioned nonse...

Re: Marmalade

I bought some lovely marmalade at the Tala Cats Christmas Fair a few weeks ago. I believe they sold out on the day but it might be worth enquiring at their shop in Kissonerga whether the lady who made it still has any available. It really is yummy, and just the right side of tart, not too sweet!

Re: John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022: The Beginner

Some years ago I was running a bar over here with my husband. Although a lapsed Catholic, I've always loved the Carol Service from Kings College, and play it at home every year. We tried it in the bar, and half our customers commented on how lovely it was to hear something more traditional on Christ...

Would you not need a test to go to the Evangelismos to get the test?

Re: Electricity Bills

We are still waiting for our emailed bill in Emba. Our meter was read three weeks ago. I am starting to panic a bit because we have recently moved in, our landlady is lovely and we don't want any problems. Also we have no idea how much it will be so cannot plan financially for the month. I don't kno...

Re: New Electricity bill has 19% vat on EU fine

I feel there must be a bit of middle ground when it comes to electricity usage. I have spoken to several people this week who have received massive bills and are very worried - but then they tell me that they only had the central heating on for four months, and now that it's too hot (!) they are lim...

Re: Crockerall...Amazing.

That's cheered all of us up, I think! We lived across the road from a Dyslexic (Chronolexic?) cockerel for years. We used to run a book on when he would start crowing. Like most of you we thought church bells, cockerels, and next door's dog were a distinct improvement on the sound of police sirens, ...

Re: Old Town Toilets..

I suppose it's difficult to ensure that all the regulations are being adhered to at the moment without someone permanently situated at all public facilities. It's a nuisance but understandable. By the way, and I hope I'm not being disrespectful, I just love the title of this thread. Is it just me or...

Re: Increased Restrictions

I think nowadays fewer and fewer people are taking the vaccine because of real or perceived health issues, more that we just want to go out and buy food and live a relatively normal life. I have reached a stage where I am quite happy to go through any barmy procedure they want to inflict so that I c...

Re: Husband reportedly kills wife to relieve her from pain

Having discussed this awful event with several people the thing I find saddest of all is that nobody, even locally to them, seems to know this couple. Their situation is, of course, painfully sad but to think that they hadn't any contact with friends and neighbours whilst going through all this is u...

Re: Safepass

I'm ashamed to say that I am completely bewildered by all this. When I had my second dose of the vaccine my GP told me that I would, within that week, be able to download a copy of my certificate onto my phone, which is of course preferable to carting a tatty piece of paper around. Is this facility ...

I understand that the UK has set up a government site named "Tell Us Once" or something similar, which may still be of help to you. However, like most UK government sites, we only find out what is available to us by default. I'll see if I can find out a little more.

Incidentally Dominic, I'm a member of Mensa and often contribute to their Dog special Interest group. May I use some of the comments here (confidentially of course) in my article for the next magazine? I do feel that Mensans, in particular, have little idea of what is happening in countries like our...

Re: Woman charged for leaving dog on balcony during heatwave (Updated)

Hello Dee! I have, over the last few days, had the "pleasure" of discussing these issues with one of the newest recruits to the Government Vet Office who receives and investigates complaints about ill-treated animals. His usual job appears to be examining slaughterhouses and pounds to ensu...
