Re: Doctors overloaded weeks after Gesy launch

Don't forget that doctors salaries are based upon how many signed up 'clients' they have up to a maximum of 2,500. I would assume that from their salary they might have to pay office/receptionist's costs. So if they have the full complement of 'clients' and maximum salary, those particular doctors a...

Re: Doctors overloaded weeks after Gesy launch

Once other factors such as doctor's receptionists are brought into the equation you are leaving yourself wide open to their actions (or lack of actions) which in turn can complicate and delay matters.

Re: first experience visiting GESY doctor

It seems that people are following several routes to get registration, with differing levels of success. Personally I/we did it all on-line and submitted the required documentation by post to Nicosia, received approval after 3 weeks by email, chose and received via email acceptance of our requested ...

Re: Doctors overloaded weeks after Gesy launch

As I said on another post, it should have been trialled in just a single town area first. Introducing such a major change over the whole country was inevitably going to result in problems. Doctors, Pharmacists and the public have to be patient for problems to be identified and then resolved over th...

Re: Registering with a PD under GESY?

Galexinda/Mike Strand, Balderdash, that really would have been a cock-up. How do you 'police' something like that? people would have been travelling toone area to received free health services. How do you pay for it? Who would pay the portion of income tax devoted to GESY. Come on, be realistic, th...

Re: Blood tests at Paphos General.

Re " the NHS system is in operation? " my wife had a blood test at a private place on Wednesday and asked if it could be done under the Gesy system.. The lady said she did not know what my wife was talking about and my wife had to pay €115 .. :-( As far as I can tell, all the GESY Pharmacies have a...

Re: Registering with a PD under GESY?

Yesterday around the Evangelismos it was packed with cars. Never seen it so busy - not a parking space either side of the road. What a strange turnaround! Jeanne Yes, all but 2 of the doctors have moved, most to the building next to the Evangelismos. They have taken their 'clientel' and their cars ...

Re: Registering with a PD under GESY?

GESY - the proverbial disorganised bake off in a brewery! As Frankie Howard used to say "You may titter", but the experience I have had over the last few days at the General makes me feel optimistic. From being able to find a car parking space at 11.00hrs, to not having to queue along with 30 other...

Re: Registering with a PD under GESY?

We have finally registered with GESY and the email they sent us informed us we now have to register with a Personal Doctor. According to their website, you can register with a PD on their website. I have found the details of the doctor I wish to register with but cannot work out how to register. Am...

Re: 18 June PM debate: 5 'candidates'

The lady moderator of the debate was poor, she allowed several of the candidates to talk over each other many times so that you couldn't get a real grip on what the individuals' stance was on the various topics.

Re: MPs use House Brexit debate to push ouster of British bases

JimB, Your link takes one to an article by Darren Loucaides. On the face of it hardly what one could consider as an independent source. In fact some of the statements might not be correct, e.g. about joining NATO when one considers the present situation regarding Turkey and when you consider that Cy...

Re: MPs use House Brexit debate to push ouster of British bases

Take a look on the Wikipedia page for Akrotiri and Dhekelia - the relevant information is there, under the heading of "Governance" Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the information which is more than other posters were capable of doing. However nowhere in the Wikipedia page does it infer t...

Yes, but they agreed that the UK could keep the Sovereign Bases when the rest of the Island was handed over to Cypriot rule.
I don't think the ROC had much say in the matter; a question of take it or leave it.
Jim

Re: GESY - Not happy with Medication situation

Mike, This morning I went into our regular pharmacy on Butcher Boy road just up from the Citizen's Advice Bureau, on the same side, if you are starting from the Papantoniou traffic lights. I asked about the status of Losartan 50mg. She said that she had 3 boxes in store and checked on-line and they ...

Re: GESY - Not happy with Medication situation

I have only 1.5 weeks of Losartan [BP medication] left, and my Pharmacist informed there isn't any on the island & doesn't know when stock will arrive. Whilst I have sufficient insulin, she did say that some insulins are currently unavailable! There'd better be some hospital beds available if they ...
