Re: Overseas Summer Holidays Extremely Unlikely This Year

Robert – You are still missing the point The USA vaccine was Emergency Approval because things were getting out of hand due to Trump telling everyone that the virus was no problem – The EMA approval took time in fact a lot of people were waiting and waiting for the approval and there was no Emergen...

Re: Overseas Summer Holidays Extremely Unlikely This Year

Robert - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration which released the Janssen vaccine has nothing to do with the vaccines in the UK and Europe - Their vaccine was released under Emergency circumstances due to trump telling everyone the virus was no problem - Ours was not and I would be very surprised i...

Re: Overseas Summer Holidays Extremely Unlikely This Year

Robert - It was not "Emergency Approval" The Initial research showed that it was over 50% effective against the current strain of virus and was very unlikely to kill anyone because of its composition and was well worth running with as it was better than nothing at all and would definitely...

Re: Overseas Summer Holidays Extremely Unlikely This Year

WHL, Yes, from what I have read in reports that's true. Having your 2 shots of vaccine apparently, will not prevent one's chance of picking up the virus. But it should prevent you from becoming seriously ill. So, its beginning to make the chance of flying anywhere abroad this summer unlikely. I nee...

Re: S1 Healthcare - How long will it continue in Cyprus?

Robert, a Pensioner can join Gesy with an MEU 1 Currently yes but as a 3rd country national it will depend on what is agreed. Gesy states you are a beneficiary if "a) you are employed, or b) you have acquired permanent residence status, or c) you have been granted refugee or supplementary prot...

Re: S1 Healthcare - How long will it continue in Cyprus?

So after the 6 month period will the option to pay a small percentage of our income to remain in Gesy ? If the bi-lateral agreement is gone then I can't see that being possible unless you're a permanent resident. I'm a long way from State Pension age and my plan was always to get the MEU1 then pay ...

Hoping that nobody who voted for Brexit and lives in the EU27 is depending on a UK index linked state pension otherwise they may just have been a turkey voting for Christmas.

Thanks Flossie. This is our first winter in Cyprus and having travelled the world I've never seen anything like it.

Was the hail big enough to damage cars? Mine is not currently parked undercover and I'm currently travelling so can't check if ok.

Re: New ATM in Polemi..

For BoC my preferred branch is Coral Bay. Can be a few minutes wait inside but the ATM is usually only 1 or 2 people deep. Once the tourists arrive that may change however.

Re: Cardboard postal boxes

I'm assuming you already asked at your post office? They were very cheap as I recall - and they're yellow... The Tala Post Office doesn't seem to sell anything and only seems to be a sorting office. I was also in the Paphos District Post Office the other day and couldn't see them anywhere but I als...

Cardboard postal boxes

I need to send some items back to the UK periodically and so am looking for a source of inexpensive postal boxes. We tried Jumbos but they only had bags. Does anybody have a suggestions? This is the type of thing we're looking for but doesn't have to be PostOffice branded. https://www.wilko.com/asse...

We received our MEU1s today. We had a 12 month rental contract in English which was then stamped and signed by our Mukhtar. We didn't have the other EUR2 stamp you mention.

Re: Cyprus Post Problems

The plot thickens. Today I've received a 'notice of arrival letter' (still no update on the track and trace system) dated 10 January 2019. They're telling me to go to the Paphos City Centre Post Office - Nikodimou Mylona 25. Does that sound right as I think I've driven past there and not seen a post...
