Re: flight and covid

Ouch

Ok, it would seem that I am in the wrong regarding catagory B travel, the option for testing on arrival being for Cypriot citizens and permanent residents of Cyprus. Hope they let me go home (I tested negative) :(.

Re: flight and covid

Please note that the UK is currently a catagory B country I do hope that this helps to clarify the current situation on travel. I posted it because i found out, that because of misinformation, people we know actually cancelled their flight because they could not get a test in the UK on time, they mi...

Re: flight and covid

Please see below from the Cyprus Flight Pass Quick Check Much better to get the test on arrival in Cyprus, in my opinion, than chasing about the UK https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/quick-check Can I get a CyprusFlightPass? Country of Departure SELECT ONE Departure Date View Country Categories I be...

Re: flight and covid

Im Sorry, but it is not misinformation, you have to tick the box that you have not had a test, but that you are willing to have a test on arrival, then you are approved. There is no pulling a fast one at all. I said all the people on my flight were tested, please read the post properly. I have no id...

Re: flight and covid

No WHL That was how it was when I came out on Monday. I opted on the pass (you have to complete before travel) to have the test on arrival. Everyone was given a test on arrival and charged ( 60Euro), although some had the charge waved (they may have been permanant residents, but I cannot confirm as ...

Re: flight and covid

You can opt to have the test when you arrive in Cyprus (just tick the travelling under Vienna convention thing). Flights we have been on everybody was tested whether they had a test in the UK or not

Re: Believing newspapers?

I have given up on any newspapers. When I feel up to it I will watch channel 4 news, which is so far left that I like to think it makes it easier to interpret the middle ground.

Re: European Car rental ideas.

Be Extremely vigilant, ensure you inspect whatever car you hire very carefully, and do use your mobile to video the entire car in detail. It isnt like Cyprus, they go over the car with a fine toothcomb on return, be prepared.

Re: Electric cars not very green

Its a bit like the old "smoking isnt really bad for you brigade", You can never convince everyone, and there really is no point in trying. https://undecidedmf.com/episodes/2019/1/1/electric-cars-myths-vs-facts I would say that in Cyprus you need to be assured that there is suitable mainten...

Broadband Providers

We are currently with CYTA, however they only do standby rates for 6 months per year, plus the router is not the best. Does anyone have any suggestions of other providers who do not limit the standby times? (by standby rates I am meaning the lower rate when we disconnect as we are not in Cyprus). An...

Re: Parents of alleged Ayia Napa gang rape victim feel optimistic

I have to say that I do find many of the views on here disturbing. However, they do reflect the misogynistic and ignorant views of many of the older generation males. The understanding by society of what constitutes rape, or indeed sexual assault is moving on apace, and it is not just the Cyprus pol...

Re: Swimming pool liner

Some of our neighbours are using a German liner, with the colour through the liner, so never wears off. Installed by Shipshape. They do look good, but I was wondering if anyone else has experience of them.

Re: Central heating without diesel/gas in Cyprus...

We have a Genvex air system in the UK, which includes heat recovery via a heat pump. The air ducts were installed when we had the house updated. If I was starting from scratch in Cyprus I would install this system. It ensures heated fresh air throughout the house in the winter and cooled air in the ...

Re: My first week driving electric SUV

We have owned a 22kw Renault Zoe in the UK for about 6 months now (bought second hand). My wife uses it for her daily commute (about 25 miles) and at the weekend. The worries about running out of batteries have never materialised, and I wish we had got it sooner. We charge it at home, in the summer ...
