Re: Fish n Chips with mushy peas

Line caught haddock is much better tasting than fish that has been caught in a trawl net, the trawled fish has been dragged through the water within the net, thus effectively half " drowning " it, this tends to render the flesh soggy, the line caught species flesh is much firmer and flaky.

Re: Fish n Chips with mushy peas

I went over the top yesterday, had mushy pea fritters, followed by line caught haddock and chips, was yummy, I should add I was dining in Colmans Seafood Temple at South Shields.

Re: Revamp planned for Paphos airport

The facilities within the airport itself are much the same as any other, in my opinion, the approach road and parking are major issues, surely finishing off the ' road to nowhere ' would be the obvious choice for improvement. Driving towards the airport at night down that dark road from the B6 isn't...

Some banks allow you to pay in cheques electronically, via internet banking, I know Lloyds does, May be worth checking.

Re: Revolut

I have tried various travel cards over the years, Revolut is, without a doubt, the clear winner for me, its accepted just about everywhere worldwide, at millions of outlets. You can pay contactless for most services up to €100, or feed in your PIN, an alert is sent to your phone usually before the t...

Re: Felicity ace on fire

Everyone on board was evacuated safely, the expensive cars are replaceable, Co2, Argon, or a Halon substitute are ideal for a fire smothering agent on board most ships. Not however, on a vessel of this type, the large area car decks with lots of ventilators would nullify the gas suppression. A new m...

Re: BA Flights from UK to Cyprus

I have asked the same question regarding double vaccinated passengers, on various Paphos forums, the answers are varied as to whether you need a PCR test or not. I e-mailed British Airways who are flying the route almost daily, their response was totally non committal, they suggested I contact the B...

My first wage in 1964 was £17 per month, as a cabin boy, or ( ships cat ) on a tramp merchant ship, trading worldwide, the single voyage lasted 10 months, I loved every minute of it.

Ok sorry everyone, for not being politically correct. I used the term "avgas". instead of jet fuel. to be honest .on reflection. I wish I had resisted posting anything. its not worth all the flak from the keyboard warriors. lurking in the wings.

Re: Longer flight times

I'm aware of tail winds, weather patterns, pilots flying hours, and the P.R. stunt of " how good are we, getting you here early "but the fact remains that when you key up your flight, ( Jet 2, anyway ) it is definitely taking 35 minutes longer to get to Paphos from Newcastle.

Longer flight times

I noted whilst browsing for flights from Newcastle to Paphos in September, that the flying time is now 5hrs 5m, as opposed to the usual 4h 30m ( approx ). I can only assume that the " bean counters " have implemented a cost cutting exercise, to save on avgas, by pulling the handle back on ...

My Jet 2 flight refund was lodged back in to my Lloyds Bank credit card a/c, it was a very straightforward transfer, via online banking, to put it back in to my current a/c, no banking charges were incurred.

Holiday Let Rental Increase

We were due to fly out to Paphos next week, for a six week self catering apartment holiday, and for obvious reasons, won't be coming, the apartment owner, and Jet2 flights, have agreed full refunds, which is fine. Just out of interest, I checked the apartment rental price for the same dates in 2021,...
