Re: CovScan application mandatory for SafePass checks

Yes, it IS a good idea
BUT
Make announcement on 4th Nov for compulsory implementation on 8th Nov while the APP itself is only available on Android ???
Seriously ?

Now I know for certain that the world has gone stark raving bonkers !

Re: Amazon delivery

Unless you prepaid any duties and the appropriate label was on the package then Amazon UK deliveries will invariably end up waiting for Customs to check them so can take a long, long time. You may receive some notification from the postal service in due course either asking for a coy of the purchase...

Re: Best airport parking

I always use Park n Fly. I prefer not to leave my car at the airport itself where any number of other people could park next to it and ding the bodywork with their car doors and luggage. It is fractionally less convenient than just walking out of the Arrivals hall and straight to my car but I simply...

Re: Recommendations please for Online purchases to Cyprus

For items you used to buy from Amazon I can recommend that you now use Amazon Germany (Amazon.de) You can view the site in English and all of the items I have ordered through them this year have been delivered very quickly (within days) by UPS or DHL to my door.

Re: Complex Bank Accounts

We have a separate bank account for our complex but have run into big problems because of Committee members not being permanent residents in Cyprus. To make any changes to the account such as when committee members change, setting up new standing orders and so on, the bank requires all of the signat...

Re: Sterling cheque

If it is not issued by a UK bank it takes 21 days and I think they charge €5. If it is a UK bank, no charge and credited to your account straight away. This is after much gnashing of teeth and running to the manager's office a couple of times and signing copious sheets of paper. Good luck. And that...

Re: Alpha BANK

It means that Alpha bank are now forcing us to use an App on a smartphone in order to make payments with your online banking. They no longer text you a one time passcode to enter as the additional security measure but send an automatic code to the phone Personally I cannot use a tiny phone for my on...

Question about overseas parcels

Hi all, I received an email from Cyprus Post saying a package had arrived for me and I needed to log in to their website to find out if anything was payable or if more documents were needed. I signed up and logged in and upon finding that I needed to make a payment (only €4.10) I followed the link t...

Re: Despite ancient cat connections, Cyprus is swamped with strays

Trap, Neuter and Release back to the area they were taken from is the only effective population control which has been proven over and over again all over the world. Have you the slightest idea how much it costs to neuter a cat especially a female? To do it systematically on every feral cat would c...

I am fairly happy to use local alternatives to British brands (with maybe one exception as no one has yet equaled Heinz baked beans for taste) BUT, my cats are definitely not impressed that I can't get Felix food for them now - I have tried all of the other brands of wet cat food but end up throwing...

Re: Looking for recommendations for a new Bank Account

I think the OP wants to avoid the duplicity of having to use a mobile to take the verification codes etc if I read correctly. However with all the new control mechanisms coming into play, there is going to be higher levels of security now so probably a phone and laptop will be needed in tandem. I d...

I find that an interesting reply because I'm trying to do the complete opposite i.e. to access my accounts without having to go through smart phone. I'm told that the bank cannot ensure security without having to dial-hop between the computer and mobile: I would like the bank to "forget defini...

thanks

Me too. Used the Portal at 8.05am and apart from it being a bit slow, which I put down to being due to volume of people signing in, I had no problems booking an appointment
