Re: Operations on Gesy and costs

I accept you're right. But then this seems to be a requirement which has crossed your mind and not others...and is hardly a basis for insurers at large to make this a key feature of their health policy. The way I look at it is this: you have a range of consultants available to you under GESY; if you...

Re: Operations on Gesy and costs

Though we're both in rude good health overall, with just the aches and pains which come with getting older, wife and I pay a princely sum each month to continue with our BoC Eurolife policy. The reason we do this is that if either of us gets a really bad or rare condition, we can go to any doctor or...

New Horizon: The Vaccine. BBC2 last night

If you didn't see this programme last night, you might want to watch on catch-up. An in-depth documentary following a number of research teams around the World showing how they responded to the call to action to create vaccines which could defeat the virus. Research teams in Australia, China, the US...

Re: Ryanair, Paphos to Liverpool flight 4th July,

"knowing full well they aren't going to fly"? That's the get-out isn't it? They might suspect they aren't going to fly, but in this fluid situation, where rules change from one week to the next, they can claim 'no certain prior knowledge'. And the fact is that we see quite a few Ryanair and EJ fligh...

Re: Free rapid antigen tests to end soon?

The problem is that schoolchildren are currently not eligible for the vaccine, so why should they have to pay for a test every three days? The crazy situation is this: my grandaughter had a test at her school last Wednesday, but that is only valid for 3 days. So when we all went shopping at MyMall o...

Re: No criminal charges for police officers who failed to act over missing women (updated)

That is so sad, I had hoped Cyprus had moved on but it seems not. You'd hoped Cyprus had moved on. But what are your views on the Metropolitan Police in your own fair land? From today's Independent newspaper: The Metropolitan Police has been accused of “institutional corruption” following a £16m pr...

Re: Ryanair, Paphos to Liverpool flight 4th July,

As I observed the other day, this technique ensures coffers are regularly topped up at no cost to them. EJ have said that hundreds of millions are available to them in bank loans, but of course those attract interest, unlike passenger up-front payments. To an extent, who can blame them? What would a...

Agree Jim, Apple really are leading the way when it comes to online Privacy. I already get notices from Apple telling me how many trackers they prevented from following me, any further enhancements would be welcome.

Re: No criminal charges for police officers who failed to act over missing women (updated)

The Police officers concerned may have, and indeed did, fail miserably in the performance of their duties, but does that make them "criminally" negligent? Perhaps not. The devil as always is in the detail.

How is not halting flights from India a populist solution?

What will you all do if the airlines go tits up? What will you moan about then? With £2.3 billion in reserves I don't think Easyet will go belly-up anytime soon :? The Easyjet CEO claimed recently the company has enough money to see it through 'till 2023. None of the leading players will go under a...

Devil, I think most of us on Paphos Life have live here long enough to understand how the sun works in June, July, August and September. I don't need someone to remind me.

When rain showers are imminent you'll be telling us to take a brolly with us, just like forecasters in the UK do.

EJ seem to have forgotten about keeping their customers happy. Dee

Yes Dee, but every online reservation paid by credit card is money in the bank account. Only months later will they need to offer a refund or, more likely, an alternative flight weeks and months further on.

Yes the irony of it all. All the leaders who have flown into the UK for this summit, are, without exception, from countries in the UK Amber category. Non have been required to quarantine, I doubt very much that they will be required to be Covid tested whilst here, (I have no proof of that). It seem...

Jackie, it was b****y gormless to not halt flights, especially after they had halted flights from Bangladesh and Pakistan 3 weeks earlier. Boris just never seems to learn, always looking for the most populist solution.

Re: Watch out

In a recent winter, I went upstairs to put the electric blanket on and found a small Scorpion under the Duvet. I covered it with tissues to take outside - and it stung me!! So much for trying to be nice! My finger throbbed all night and was very sore. Never again. I always check more carefully now ...

Just wish I'd also warned of the inevitability of problems arising from a cross-country border between Eire and NI.
