Re: Bose computer speaker repair

Uncle D has a right to his opinion. However, these are not stereo speakers and I am not an audiophile. These are stereo computer speakers 10 x 8cm which actually give excellent sound reproduction compared with the computer's inbuilt single speaker. I have been very happy with them. Thanks for the re...

Bose computer speaker repair

I know that traditional TV repairers are in short supply these days, which is why I'm posting here. My pair of trusty Bose computer speakers made a loud pop earlier, after which they stopped working completely. They're 10 years old, solidly, beautifully made. I wouldn't want to pay several hundred f...

Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?

Has the vaccine played a part in reducing the UK's death toll? I'd say it has. In the space of just 2-3 months the UK has gone from having the worst death toll in Europe (2-3 months ago 1,400 were dying daily at one point ) to now, one of the lowest. Anyone like to claim the vaccine isn't responsibl...

Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?

vaccines take on average 7-12 years to develop; these were rolled out in 9 months ...why do you suppose that is? Does anyone really believe we have 7-12 years to produce a vaccine which has already proven it's worth in getting the UK's death toll down from over 1,400 a day 2 months ago to 25 a day ...

In exercises in the UK I believe they hug the contours at 50', so as to be able to sneak in under enemy radar.

Re: Tourists will not need to send SMSs

I don’t understand why you still have to send a text message to go out when everywhere is open. I guess it’s just the government controlling us. Or am I missing something here 🤔 The reality is that none of us should be asking for permission to go out and I fear this announcement has just lit the to...

Re: YELLOW SLIP - DIP IN UK AND BACK

Put simply, if you bring car/s over in a sealed and security locked container, any goods within the car are safe. If you bring the car over ro-ro, almost anything inside the car is certain to be pinched. Problem is that since just before Christmas the cost of containers from/to almost anywhere in th...

Re: Tourists as of today 4th April 2021

I wonder what the Govt plan is for the Greek Easter which is coming up at the end of this month? Will they still keep the SMS system?...Dee. As I said before, I believe the SMS requirement will be scrapped at the end of April: an Easter gift to the nation  I suspect whatever the minister decid...

Re: YELLOW SLIP - DIP IN UK AND BACK

So you telling me they will go in the van at Cyprus customs, assess value of goods in van, and charge me 19% vat and 10% duties on all of my possessions ? No, I am not telling you that. I am not qualified to give you that advice, as these will be your personal possessions. What I am saying to you i...

Re: YELLOW SLIP - DIP IN UK AND BACK

BEFORE doing anything with regard to bringing goods or vehicles over you need to talk with a competent Import agent. It was bad enough when the UK was in the EU, but you simply cannot afford to bring goods here unless you have been thoughly advised on all the correct documentation to accompany your ...

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

Thank you to all who contributed. Not that foreign travel is on our immediate plans, but clearly it would make sense for me to contact our GP with regard to getting Cyprus-issued EHICs, even though some say they tried and weren't successful.

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

OMG, I'm more confused than ever now, with seemingly conflicting advice  My NHS EHIC card is technically valid until July 2023. Does it remain so, or is that now invalid because of Brexit? If it is still valid, than I can delay doing anything until nearer the time. I do also have an E121. Hic...

Re: Tourists as of today 4th April 2021

Regarding the SMS system, I just get on with it. It isn't much of a hardship and hardly intrusive. That's all very well, but what purpose does it serve? I can't think of one single benefit, other than government asserting control over the populace. We are free to do whatever we want via. the catego...

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

OK, so basically my NHS-issued EHIC card is good for nothing. So the next question is, can I obtain a Cyprus-based EHIC card which can be used throughout Europe and maybe the UK? If so, how?

Re: Tourists as of today 4th April 2021

Inevitable juxtaposition of interests. Tourists do not come to Cyprus to be tread as PoW's, or inpatients in a hospital. They've come here to holiday and, hopefully, spend money to help reflate the beleagured economy. Either Cyprus and the Police turn a blind eye to what tourists get up to, or they ...

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

Came across an NHS-issued EHIC card in my wallet; do these still have validity, and what do they now cover? Would they, for instance, cover NHS treatment on return visits to the UK?

Re: Cyprus marks 66 years of independence from British colonial rule

You can see similar examples going on today, even in things like benefit fraud. The Government in the UK get people worked up about the comparatively minor problem of benefit fraud so that they don't pull the Government to task over fraudulent activities closer to the Government's home. Yeah, like ...
