Re: Ablation of the hip

Dr Aspros at Evangelimos did Rosemary's knee replacement. Would recommend him. He also took xrays of Rosemary's back and said she would need to see a neuro surgeon, but did say he would not recommend back surgery, but treat with physio instead. We know he is a really good surgeeon. Locals will tell ...

Re: Love Rat

We enjoyed it, even though I made negative comments after watching the first episode. Sally Lindsey was brilliant, and typical of a northener. She is in a couple more Channel 5 series, which we will watch. We have also enjoyed the Madame Blanc series. Good, light entertainment.

Re: Love Rat

Not the best script ever but people do get conned whilst on holiday, as they leave their brains at home. When we were having our propery problems, and were members of a property action group, we heard some horror stories including cases where properties have been double sold, or the developer has cl...

We topped up both of our phones with €5 because of the new, 6 month rule, but both are now showing expiry dates for 12 months. Thanks JB for the *110# and then 'green phone/dial.

Re: Net Metering App

Ignore the 181 and 281 readings. I keep an exel spreadsheet of our consumption and production, and how much I've exported to the grid. For example, on 23/1 the meter reading on 182 was 8497.1. 24 hours later it was 8507.8.Therefore I had consumed 10.7 Kwh through the meter. The same period, the mete...

Re: Net Metering App

Express Pete. Next time your app is showing zero production, see if you are exporting anything to the grid. Turn off any appliances that use huge amounts of electric, such as ovens, aircon etc and take an export meter reading. Then, after a couple of hours of zero production on your app, take anothe...

Re: Net Metering App

We have a Solar Edge Invertor and use the Solar Edge App, both in the UK and in Cyprus. In Cyprus, our app will show zero production. If you go outside to the Invertor it also shows zero production and showing a fault. It tries to connect to the grid and goes through a countdown, firstly 60 seconds,...

EAC and strange meter readings.

Sorry, ignore what I wrote before. I forgot to take readings the previous day. Sorry. Another senior moment.

We have had both covid booster and our flu jabs. Also asked our doctor about a shingles vaccine and had that last week, one month after our flu jab. I remember my mum getting shingles and she was really ill and in a lot of pain which lasted years.

22c in our house with just the 1 aircon unit, set at 23c heating the whole downstairs. Our LG invertor units are brilliant and consume very little electricity for both heating or cooling. So far it has been the mildest winter we have experienced in Cyprus and the driest since the early noughties.

Today's Ride

Went out on my bike today. Hard work riding against the wind, even with electric assistance. Rode from Anarita to the dam and then down to the coast at Mandria. Three laps of Mandria and then back to Anarita. 20 miles in total. P1060271.jpg Was very surprised as to how low the water level was. Will ...

Power Cut, Anarita

Lost power on 2 phases around 7:30pm. For the last two weeks our solar edge invertor has been cutting out around 1:30pm and trying to connect to the grid, going through a coundown of 60 secs, failing to connect, 120 secs and increasing each time it fails to connect. There is no fault on the invertor...

Re: Snow flurry in Troodos yesterday afternoon (CM)

We have done well so far this Autumn. For the past 3 winters we have kept cosy and warm with our aircon units on heat and a couple of oil filled radiators just for a boost. Cost, minimum with our pv panels. Biggest bill so far, €120 and this included heating our pool. We have plenty of electricity i...

Down to 13c when we came back from Rosemary's physio session in Paphos at 6pm. First time I have had a jumper on for my walk. Looks as if it is going to be a cool night. Pool down to 24c with the cover on today and I got it up to 27c with the heater on for 4 hours. Expect to lose 2c during the night...

Old Bedford bus

Rosemary is attending physio 3 times a week at a place between Alpha Mega and what we used to call Butcher Boy Road. For the half hour or so I go for a walk around the back streets. Amazing what you find. Took this photo on a street between Butcher Boy Road and the Evangelimos Hospital. Paphos Al, g...

Re: Paphos Seafront After The Storm

I think the new path looks very stark compared to the old one. When the original path was constructed, local school children designed mosaics and other pictures in the pathway. Over the years these disappeared as the path was repaired. However, the new path is more wheelchair friendly and was busy t...

Re: Paphos Seafront After The Storm

A little later in the day, between 11am and noon, I walked from the Imperial Hotel to the headland that overlooks Lighthouse Beach. Felt a few spots of rain so turned back. Locals all wrapped up and holidaymakers still in shorts and t shirts. Air temperature, according to one of the mayor's electron...

Re: Ten-pin bowling in Paphos?

We used to go regularly to Cosmic when we first bought our home here, as did a lot of our neighbours. Must start going again as we used to really enjoy it, plus, it was much cheaper than bowling in the UK.
