Re: World population

So Dominic - You reckon this bloke might be right after all ? The coronavirus is the result of the sin and malice between great powers but also the fault of humans in general, Morphou Bishop Neophytos has said. During his sermon last Sunday in Nikitari, which came to light on Friday, the bishop whi...

Re: Latchi boat

Thank you for that CyprusSue.
That's really interesting and it's good to know it is not just being destroyed.

Re: Latchi boat

Although it's not clear on these photos, the planks on the hull have all been labelled, which makes me think that it is going to be put back together at some point. There's certainly a lot of rotten and rusty stuff at the side of it. I think originally it was going to be sunk out at sea for divers.

Latchi boat

I was surprised to see the boat at Latchi harbour being dismantled today. It seems to have been there forever!
The engine has been put on blocks next to it. Perhaps it's being preserved?

Fire in Paphos

Looked like a substantial fire in Paphos today.
Not sure where but this was taken on the coast past the fort.
First thought was the airport but it was probably too close for that.

Pergamos crossing point

Has anyone any experience of crossing to the north at Pergamos, near Larnaca? I would like to know if it is possible to buy insurance at the crossing point as it is at Kato Pyrgos. Also, does an insurance policy bought at Kato Pyrgos cover a crossing at any checkpoint? I have previously got one by e...

Re: Beer prices in UK

In the UK this summer I was quite shocked to get a pint of mild for £1.34. I couldn't believe it so I had to have another just to check.
I didn't ask, but I assume it must be a promotion of some sort. I always thought the tax on beer was more than that.

Re: Starling Bank

The website says that it will "soon be available to everyone".
I think I went onto a waiting list some time back but never heard any more, which is a shame as it does look useful.

Re: Border crossing - Kato Pyrgos

If you open that link in Chrome web browser, Google will offer to translate the whole site into English; I clicked yes and it did just that. Thank you for that Happy in Cyprus. I use Chrome on a laptop but couldn't see an option to translate. However right clicking on any page does offer to transla...

Re: State of Origin matches 2019

I get Sky Sports on my magbox and watch all the Super League matches. Not much help to you if that's not what you've got, but as they're probably on early morning you might be able to find a bar that's open and will show them.

Re: 3 helicopters

I was out yesterday morning, walking in the forest beyond Lysos and had a very close encounter with two of them. They came right over my head at tree top height, creating a tremendous whirlwind, and hovered just over a field next to me. As I had a camera and binoculars I was concerned it was me they...

Re: Border crossing - Kato Pyrgos

I have found that it can be pre-ordered online by using this email address:

tijen.imer@daglisigorta.com

http://daglisigorta.com/ is a website in Turkish but I can't find an English translation on it.
looks like an insurance company.

Emails replied to very quickly and in good English.

Border crossing - Kato Pyrgos

Has anyone entered the north at Kato Pyrgos recently? I have always bought insurance at the border previously, but I'm told the insurance counter is not open there now and you have to buy it in the town. Was also told that you can pre-buy this by email. Has anyone done this and got an email address ...

Tree removal

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone to remove two overgrown Mimosa trees?
Probably just cutting down to a low level stump would do.
Situated in the Polis area.

Thanks.

........When I'm in the UK I don't have a clue in which bin I'm supposed to be depositing the rubbish. Lord knows how they all remember on a week to week basis, and get the right bins out on the right day, but all those bins are just a nightmare. In the UK we are sent a list for the year (actually 1...
