As you asked, Memory Man, I live in Tokyo.

I'm looking at Cyprus, Switzerland, and Malaysia to move;

Re: gated communities in Paphos

The point is about improving peace of mind through better security, and considering the options.

If a decent 'genuine' gated community were available, perhaps some people who had been victims
of burglary might think it a viable future option. Depends on budget, of course.

Re: gated communities in Paphos

Thanks, Lazy dayz

I didn't know that.

I wonder whether "normal' gated communities (w/out a golf course!) would be an option.
That is, whether their security is good enough, and their fees not too crazy.

gated communities in Paphos

Anyone live/ knows anyone who lives/ in a Paphos gated community? On a quick online search, I found these, as examples: http://blog.cyprus101.com/exclusive-gated-community-kato-paphos-cyprus/http://www.eleaestate.com/en/residences http://www.eleaestate.com/en/residences Never lived in one myself, no...

Re: tricky question?

Thanks to all posters. Very useful, everyone. Dominic : not really. You can't cover the whole area when you initially look for a place to rent. You must necessarily limit . That's why these sites are so useful. Look at how specific and on point many posters have been. The old saw of it being subject...

tricky question?

To the best of your knowledge ,which residential areas in and around Paphos have the FEWEST holiday villas, apartment complexes with pool, retiree residences, and yet are not too isolated (by being in a village, for example) ? Perhaps where many Cypriot families choose to live. Feel free to chide me...

You've been in Cyprus for quite a while, so much appreciated!

Memory Man : your own article posted on this site (crime & tourist season) includes a bit on burglaries
on the same street, several doors down

Memory Man :
Bear in mind that I don't lve on Cyprus yet; I'm still researching. I'm just reading the news as posted;
of course, Paphos/Peyia residents have a much better sense than I of what is happening.
That's why I wanted others' input.

It;s hard to know things well in life.

Re: Spate of burglaries In Pahos & Peyia

This seems to be the issue to me : I would say that you can't compare countries. That's because it really matters most, on a day-to-day basis, the security level of the street that you live in. I used to live in Leicester : it had very expensive areas where doctors lived in big houses with tennis co...
