Re: Mayor of Paphos locks horns with Unesco over new Paphos jetty

Paphos and the surrounding area would surely benefit greatly from these short stay visitors from cruise ships. There may be plenty of tourists around but they are mainly in their all inclusive hotels, and their presence only benefits the likes of TUI, not the many local restaurants and bars etc.,,Go...

Re: Butters and Spreads

I was a proper Butter snob when I lived in the UK, and would only ever but Anchor, never got on with any of the spreadables. Had to adapt a bit here, and put up wirh Country Life or Kerrygold, did actually bring back a couple of blocks of Anchor last visit to UK.

Re: Last Tornado jets leave Akrotiri forever

The news that Tornados are being retired makes me feel really old, I was in the TAG when they entered service, and stationed at Akrotiri when the first Tornado squadron came in for an armament practise camp, time goes on I suppose, and I have actually been out of the service longer than I was in! Ho...

Re: UK State Pension Life Certificate

Got mine done recently at the Bank of Cyprus main branch in town, no bother at all. Now I have just received a very similar form with respect to my RAF pension, a slightly wider list of possible signatories though, just wondering how often I am going to have to prove that I am still this side of the...

Re: Gas Boiler Repair

Another long shot, was the guy welsh? if so it may be Steve Gregory from Peyia, who I know does do gas boilers, don't have a number for him, but his wife Cherrie (Singer) is on facebook and in a number of groups, so you could message her.

UK State Pension - Life Certificate

Hi All, a quick query if I may, I have just had a letter from the UK pension service saying that I have to complete and return a "Life Certificate", this includes having to show my I/D and sign in the presence of a witness such as a solicitor, local police officer etc. Has anybody on here ...

My verified by Visa issue was with a Bank of Cyprus UK debit card, and when I phoned them they stated that there was an issue reaching CYTA mobiles, I have contacted them since, and the issue is now fixed, and I am getting these sms messages through to my cyta mobile

Re: UK Passport Application

New and old passports arrived today, courier went to my home, but I was out, so he phoned me, I collected the passports later from the new ACS office on Mesogi Avenue, all in all very impressed with the service, under 3 weeks start to finish.

Re: Windscreen Wiper 'salesmen' at Papantoniou and Lidl

Happened to me yesterday in the main Papps in town. The guy actually took on wiper arm off the car to try and show me that it needed changing, had to be very firm to get him to put it back and leave us alone, could be intimidating for somebody on their own.

Re: Which email provider

Hi, I use gmail (google) as my main email and ymail (yahoo) as a backup, they are each the recovery email address for the other, and I find it works really well, I have used these for several years in the UK and here, and of course they are completely independent of isp.

Re: UK Passport Application

Just done the same thing today, very easy, got photos done by Marios down near to the Mall, he gave me electronic version as well, very easy to upload, passed the auto screening OK. The only problem I had was when I came to pay (not the passport offices system at fault), but "verified by visa&q...

Re: Do you drink Keo

When I was here in the forces during the 70's and 80's, the choice was really only Keo or Carlsberg, mainly bottled, or imported cans, tennants etc. I was always a Carlsberg man back then, but since settling here I have found that bottled Leon is my favourite, as it seems to be less gassy than the o...

Re: CAR PARKING ON MESOGI(POLIS)ROAD

Good for the Police, they should do it far more often, and also include the Coral Bay strip, the double yellows there are completely ignored. Another wind up is the car park on TotK road where O'Neills bar is, always full of red plates waiting to go out on hire, and isn't it supposed to be pay and d...

My lot, Plymouth Argyle bottled it a bit at the end, and just missed the league 1 play-offs, but considering that we were rock bottom up to and including Christmas cannot be too disappointed for the first season after promotion, onward and upward, Green Army!
