NHS cover on visit to UK

My darling wife wishes to visit the UK in the next few months for a short visit. I suspect she is not eligible for NHS care but her pre-existing conditions may make health insurance prohibitive. Can anyone suggest the best way to proceed?

Re: 112 Cyprus app

We had occasion to use this app in October when my wife broke her hip. It was farcical. Nobody, but nobody, at the call centre spoke English. My landlord was nearby and he spoke to them in Greek, with the result that two separate ambulances were dispatched but neither could find our house. Eventuall...

King-size electric under blanket?

We need to replace our king-size electric under blanket but have struggled to find anything other than those for double beds. Our current one came from the UK years ago, but not really a practical route now.

Does anyone know of a Cyprus outlet (ideally in the Paphos area)?

My darling wife and I fully intend to live forever but were wondering whether organ donations are possible here in Cyprus?

Re: Wireless printer

Another vote for Computer SOS. Brian could not have been more helpful. On our return home, set-up (HP Wireless printer) took under three minutes.

Re: Coffee Machine Recommendation

Excellent news. Does that mean the blog will get an update? 😉 The blog has been in abeyance for some time. My darling wife suffers from mild epilepsy and osteoporosis - not a happy combination. Unfortunately she had a fall at home and broke her hip. After a nine day stay at Paphos General, she retu...

“No couriers” … Scam?

I am intrigued by the number of adverts on Facebook (items for sale) which state “No Couriers”. It suggests that there is some sort of scam going on.

I have an item for sale for €20 and a potential buyer wants me to send it to Nicosia by courier. Am I right to be suspicious?

Coffee Machine Recommendation

My darling wife is unhappy with the coffee at home and would like us to buy something better. Our present machine has a water reservoir and the hot water drips through the filter where the ground coffee is situated. It takes an age to brew and is often not hot enough. She is looking for a programmab...

Covid Rapid Test & Vaccination

I now realise what is strange about the recent introduction of the mandatory Rapid Tests. During the various lockdowns, you either had to have either a current Rapid Test or your Safe Pass (with your vaccination status) to enter medical establishments or supermarkets and the like. I am fully vaccina...

Cyta Call Forwarding

I am setting up my wife’s new phone (from Cyta) and it requires a number to direct to (I assume) Cyta Voicemail. Can anyone tell me what the number is?

Re: Shower Stool/Seat conundrum?

I have a shower stool with overall dimensions of 55x55x48 (W x H x D) with. Seat area of 32 x 24 which has been loanwd out a few times over the years. Max user weight is 150kg so pretty sturdy. Jamboal wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 6:48 am Hi, I purchased a small shower stool for my sister in law who has MS and visits frequently, bought it from the disability shop opposite the general hospital. It fits perfectly in our guest room shower cubicle which is quite small.
They no longer stock them. But thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Shower Stool/Seat conundrum?

Thank you both. I’ve been in touch with our lovely local pharmacist but everything he suggested was too large. The idea of an outdoor stool or chair had us searching our outhouses but, again, not small enough or not high enough. If it fits the space, it’s too low. Grrh!

Shower Stool/Seat conundrum?

My darling wife had a fall at home three weeks ago and unfortunately broke her hip. Back from hospital now, we have a super nurse coming in every other day for help with ablutions and other female stuff, and a physiotherapist who visits twice a week for rehabilitation. So far so good. We have had tw...

Car key repair/replacement?

Our car key has rather fallen apart, and our spare key lacks the electronics to start the car. Our car is a Suzuki Grand Vitara (2004). Has anyone any idea where we can get a repair/replacement key?
