Re: Complacency setting in.

I think that maybe people have developed the 'feel good feeling' as so many of the restrictions have suddenly been lifted and more things are re opening. You are quite right In what you said and as people start relaxing they are kidding themselves that the virus is dead here, which it isn't .There a...

Re: Private Health/ GESY

I have a similar situation as others who have written that they have private health care. My renewal of the policy is due in a couple of months. I plan to talk to them about the merits of continuing my existing policy which covers inpatient , most operations,( I haven't needed anything major) so far...

hi Trev,
Yes, on reading the article given as reference, The limit of groups of 10 people meeting applies until 24th June. So I think that must include restaurants as well.

Re: Suspect arrested for illegal entry, robbery and assault

There will be a number of women who live on their own who will be very relieved that this man has been arrested. If its the one that I heard about he attacked and robbed them quite viciously before forcing his attentions on them. Not pleasant. Hope that if he is convicted he gets a reasonable stretc...

Re: Three dogs with homes to go to stolen from Paphos shelter, public asked to help

Agree with you Cheshire Lad, but I think that Paws usually neuter strays before they are actually re homed. But the young Polly at 6 mths old was probably too young to be spayed. It's very sad, but these dog nappers are on the look out for suitable young hounds now ready for the hunting season. If o...

Re: Citizen Service Centers

I suppose they could allow a fixed number of people in at one time, much as the better organised supermarkets have done throughout the pandemic. All that is needed is social distancing queues outside, with one large pref uniformed man in charge!

Re: Annual vehicle road tax

There is a Govt set scale of road tax, which used to be based on the engine size, but now Inthink is calculated on engine carbon CO2 emissions Re road tax. You pay a Govt set price which is based on not the engine size, I think, but the number of carbon emissions of the engine. (Someone will put me ...

Chaddy, that correction makes a lot more sense! And Yes I agree with your sentiments. UK has taken in enough Asylum seekers, economic migrants etc Which represent every race, skin colour and religious creed. Maybe its time to drastically reduce this continual drain on the countries finances. The fin...

Re: Citizen Service Centers

Well the rules must be changing then. My appt to renew my driving license was given me by phone last Thursday, for Thurs this week, at the CSS on (the former) Butcher Boy Rd.
So the comment in the last post seem very strange to me.

I remember hearing something about that. But did their enterprise ever get off the ground?
Haven't seen any seaweed fertiliser in the garden shops? I'd buy some if it was available...

Re: First time after the curfew lifted...fresh fish at the sea front

El Tel, I think that you are right about the seaweed, except that there is apparently no one here who's interested in processing it. (Is this a business opportunity for someone)? Theres always plenty of it available every spring and it just ends up in rotting, smelly piles.

Re: Museums and sites to open June 1

I was surprised that Archaeological sites were closed in a way, as mainly they are an outdoor experience, many sites are large and they are seldom crowded except in the peak tourist season. Museums are different obviously.

Its a pity that the UK don't apply this rule vigorously to new arrivals. Too many seem to proceed straight to the social welfare and benefits.

Perhaps you know or could find out who the Community Leader Is who' has been recently arrested? I have noticed that often on local news a story hits the papers, but no name is given?

Re: First time after the curfew lifted...fresh fish at the sea front

Yes nice looking fish, they look like Tsipoura ((Sp?) Sea Bream) ? Like all fish they do need filleting but most of the bones are big enough to see easily.. This taverna always has a good selection many locally caught.
