Re: Global IT outage affecting Cyprus; no flight disruptions so far

This was caused by a bad update in a Security product ironically called CrowdStrike. It caused PCs running it to have Blue Screens Of Death. And the way to cure it is a time-consuming reboot into Safe Mode to apply the fix. I would be very surprised if it directly affected any of your machines. If y...

Re: Kato Paphos webcam

No surprise there then - It seems its what they are famous for. https://www.dw.com/en/always-yammering-why-germans-love-to-complain/a-44997023 While the Germans may be famous for complaining with a view to instigating actual change, the Brits beat them hands down when it comes to moaning on Social ...

Re: Kato Paphos webcam

A lot of those are illegal. You cannot show images that are identifiable. I could read car number plates and see people's faces on some of them. I don't care, but I do know that when I first put the Kato Paphos one up I was threatened with being reported. That is why I blur the lower half of the ima...

St George's Hotel, Chloraka

This was our first flight around St George's Beach area with the new drone, and my first experiment with ND filters, which are basically sunglasses for it's camera. This meant it looked especially cool as it flew round the grounds of the hotel and nearby chapel. The beach area is also getting popula...

None I am afraid. I had been planning on getting one installed up there myself, but I am now using that to replace the one in Kato Paphos!

Latsi Harbour From Above

Latsi, on the North Coast of Paphos, is one of the region's hidden gems. Indeed, the same could be said for the entire North Coast of Paphos. In this film we begin and end at the statue of the legendary last Queen of Cyprus and take a gentle glide around the assorted boats and restaurants. https://w...

Paphos Sea Front And Harbour Stroll

In the final part of our Saturday Morning Stroll we walk along the Sea Front and Harbour. Apologies for the poor sound quality, but it was by now too hot for the main camera, which overheated. So I had to resort to the emergency backup Camera. Nevertheless, you can still hear the legendary Henry sha...

Re: license for street trading (news)

It is worth noting that in August a lot of Municipalities go on their Summer Holidays. You may have better luck making contact in September. And, as stated before, contact them in Greek if you want a better chance of getting a response, or go and see them in person.

Re: Kato Paphos webcam

I tried repairing it this afternoon, but it appears to have webcam dementia. Half way through configuring it forgets what it is and goes back to factory default.

I will investigate alternatives.

Paphos Promenade Stroll

Continuing our Saturday Morning walk we head back towards Paphos Sea Front via the Promenade. On the way we pass The Amavi (not Avanti as stated), Alexander The Great, Almyra and Annabelle Hotels. The weather was gorgeous though a bit hot. If you are out and about in Cyprus avoid walking in the midd...

Poseidonos Avenue and Limnaria Gardens

Time to check up on the renovation work at Poseidonos Avenue. We also have a look at the shopping area around Limnaria Gardens, which provides some much needed shade, and presents us with several feline playmates.

Re: Donald Trump shooting

What a nasty statement. I don't like the man myself, but I wouldn't wish or hope for his death. Besides, if his last administration is anything to go by, what he says in rallies is slightly different to what actually happens. And personally, I would feel safer with somebody in power who can actually...

Limni Mine From Above - Glorious Colours!

I have been putting my new drone through its paces, and experimenting with filters to cope with the blazing sun. It occurred to me that the old mine at Limni (near the pier!) would be a great place to fly, and so it was. The filter worked brilliantly and you can really see the fantastic colours of t...

Lidl at Neon Mall opening on the 25th!

Back in January we reported that Lidl were coming to Neon Mall in Paphos. I happened to be there yesterday and couldn't help but notice that their name was now showing on the list of Stores on the front of the Mall. So naturally I had a look around... Read the article and chat about it below...   li...

Med Prices Have Been Updated!

In what will no doubt come as a shock to many of you, myself included, the med prices viewable on site have been updated to show the latest figures. https://www.paphoslife.com/med_prices Somebody had pointed out to me that they were out of date. And they were right. Last update was in 2019. To be ho...

The Forum Agenda

I just banned two posters. Life is too short for me to argue with people accusing me of having agendas and what have you. The ONLY reason I keep this forum going is because some people who aren't on Facebook use it to keep in contact with each other. I am quite happy keeping it going as long as peop...
