Aphrodite's Airport Run

For a while there have been increased security measures at Paphos Airport. You can no longer pick up or drop off people directly outside the Main Entrance. In the past I have published film showing us leaving the airport, but people are still confused as to where they should go. In this film we driv...

Re: Charlotte Dujardin

If it was all so obvious (and I haven't seen the film) why haven't people stopped it years ago?

Birthplace of Aphrodite

While doing a report on the B6 roadworks I thought it would be rude not to film Aphrodite's famous rock at the same time. So here it is, in all its glory.

Foinikas in 2024

Foinikas can be found on the banks of the Asprokremmos Reservoir. Hundreds of years ago, it was the base of the Knights Templar, and it is not difficult to imagine them here when you look at the fantastically bleak countryside. Of course, in those days there was no reservoir. That arrived after the ...

Re: Kato Paphos webcam

Webcam seems to be fixed now. We had put a new camera up, I just needed to jig with the image. When I wrote the webcam routine I added the ability to crop and rotate the image. This means it doesn't need to be pointing in the exact location. I can adjust it later. When I remember to! All done now.

Paphos Harbour at Dusk - From Above

This was supposed to be a film of Paphos Harbour at Sunset, but I got delayed a bit, so it became Paphos Harbour at Dusk instead. But doesn't it look lovely as the last flickers of sunlight flee west towards the Med? I was surprised to see how well illuminated parts of the Archaeological Park are at...

Re: The Polis Coastline

Possibly. The reason I went further east in this film though, was because I launched it on the eastern side of Latsi. In previous films I launched from the western side.

What I do get more of though, other than image quality, is battery life.

alewfin1 wrote: Tue Jul 23, 2024 8:19 am It's sensationalism from the Express, no surprise but there is a large element of truth behind the story.

A person in a senior position at a wellknown hotel chain in Paphos told us that booking are well down.
That is because of prices, not fear.

Paphos Sea Front At Night

I went out for a stroll on Saturday Night to see what was happening along the Sea Front and Harbour. I am still playing with the settings when it comes to Night Filming, and have some way to go before I am satisfied. However, you do get to see how busy it can be on a Saturday Night, and how pretty t...

The Polis Coastline

The North Coast of Paphos is the place to head to if you want a nice, relaxed holiday. In this film we fly the drone from Latsi Harbour along the coast to Polis Campsite Beach. Along the way we pass numerous Municipal Beaches which are well worth investigating. The campsite itself is closed for reno...

Droushia to Limni Mine - The Scenic Route

This drive takes us through some very pretty and little-visited countryside. We start at Droushia and drive off-road down to the B7. From there we go to Polis and head to Limni Pier. We turn right before the waterfront though, and head inland to the old mine itself. For more information on Limni Min...

Aphrodite's Roadworks - The Sequel!

Well, this is new. We drove up to Aphrodite's Rock the other day to give the new drone an airing, and noticed that the road was closed again. We had noticed it before, to be honest, but this time it is really closed, and they are doing some serious work on it. Not in the same place. No, there doesn'...

Re: Global IT outage affecting Cyprus; no flight disruptions so far

This was caused by a bad update in a Security product ironically called CrowdStrike. It caused PCs running it to have Blue Screens Of Death. And the way to cure it is a time-consuming reboot into Safe Mode to apply the fix. I would be very surprised if it directly affected any of your machines. If y...

Re: Kato Paphos webcam

A lot of those are illegal. You cannot show images that are identifiable. I could read car number plates and see people's faces on some of them. I don't care, but I do know that when I first put the Kato Paphos one up I was threatened with being reported. That is why I blur the lower half of the ima...

St George's Hotel, Chloraka

This was our first flight around St George's Beach area with the new drone, and my first experiment with ND filters, which are basically sunglasses for it's camera. This meant it looked especially cool as it flew round the grounds of the hotel and nearby chapel. The beach area is also getting popula...

None I am afraid. I had been planning on getting one installed up there myself, but I am now using that to replace the one in Kato Paphos!
