Re: Question on car tax
Thanks for all the advice. I don’t know the guy personally but they haven’t been able to get over since either pre-pandemic or Brexit and are worried they might get caught out by any recent changes. I’ve given them the link to Cyprus Driving as well.

Question on car tax
A friend of a friend has a car and apartment here but is not living here permanently as yet and does not have MEU1. He is coming over for a few weeks next month when he will renew his road tax but has heard that if he doesn’t have residency status it will be necessary to have a visa in order to tax ...

I think the third Zako listed behind as the market has closed now and relocated near M&S food hall, on the same side but lower down the hill.

Re: Vaccine centre at the general
Mighty Sprite, not unless they have swapped rooms around, I was there this morning. Going along the corridor from the main entrance, the two vaccination clinics are on the left hand side and the first room you come to (with the large fridges) were giving the second vaccinations, the first jabs were ...

Re: Vaccine centre at the general
Had my second jab this morning. Looked quite busy but was called in within a couple of minutes of my appointment time. Very efficient.
When you approach the vaccination rooms the first room is for the second jab, the room further along is for the first jab and there is a very large sign at that door.

Re: From Tuesday 9th March - 67 years + can apply for Covid vaccine
Logged on just after 8am this morning but portal must have been having a meltdown as the drop down vaccination site wouldn’t change from Famagusta, then the system kicked me out. Second attempt just got the dreaded repeating circle. Third time lucky though! Very easy to do, probably just the number ...

Re: Hand held vacuum
Just bought a new one last week. It’s a Black & Decker wet and dry, cordless. The suction is very good, has only had the initial charge but I’ve used it a fair bit this week and it’s still powerful. My old one (not B&D) wouldn’t have held its charge this long. It only comes with one tool, a ...

Retail shops are reported to be opening with large discounts on goods so, much as I like getting a bargain, I will be keeping well away from them for a while yet
Golfers do need tests, my OH got one this morning to play next week, not heard about tests for shops though.

Re: Summer Holidays 2022
I’ve had an email today from Jet2 for Cyprus holidays and flights for 2021. I didn’t follow the link to their site as we’re not likely to be going anywhere soon I would think. Our neighbours are due out in April with Jet2 and their flights have been transferred from Newcastle to Leeds - whether the ...

Re: Thousands more expats to lose bank accounts after 'Brexit day' - Telegraph
Similar experience as Jb1960. As we had not heard from Cynergy by the 60 day notice period we (naively) assumed our account must be ok. You would think in the current climate even if banking rules state notification has to be by letter, they would email it as well. Trying to set up a new bank accoun...

Re: Could Brexit signal the end of the road for second-home owners in Europe?
Am I missing something here? If you have a second home here and can visit 90 days within 180 period, that’s six months annually. Could that not be split up to visits every other month, or 2 months three times a year, or 3 months twice a year?
It doesn’t apply to us as we live here, but just wondered.

Re: Coronavirus: Incoming flights
But are families going to risk thousands of pounds booking holidays in the hope they will test negative at the airport? Will travel insurance cover this (I doubt it) ... and if they did I imagine it would cost quite a bit.

Re: UK banks to close many ex-pats accounts after Brexit.
Have been notified by Cynergy Bank our account is being closed in 60 days. I know from the forum that a number of Barclays customers switched to Cynergy when it was then Bank of Cyprus UK so has anyone found a UK bank that will definitely accept customers who live in Cyprus? We also have an account ...

I suppose some (like us for MEU3) have only just become eligible, but I can’t understand why you wouldn’t apply for the relevant papers if you intend to make Cyprus your home.
